A software engineer in California has died after being assaulted by a masked man who apparently was seeking revenge against a former employer, according to police.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office said the man entered the office in the 1800 block of West Alameda Street around 6:40 p.m.
Tuesday, wearing a mask and gloves and yelling racial slurs.
When the employee began to leave the building, the assailant confronted him, then grabbed his arm and began to strike him.
The employee said he got up to fight back but was hit in the head and chest by the assailant.
He collapsed on the floor and died at the scene.
The incident is under investigation.
The victim is a former employee of Autodesk who was working as an employee-relations engineer, according the company.
Autodesk has no employees in Santa Clara.
